Mozambique is the new African holiday destination and a top destination to snorkelling, scuba diving, fishing and all water sports. The fine sand beaches, a wide warm ocean, Palm trees, small homes with grass roofs, with delightful (and cheap) eat with Portuguese style, African and Indian influences, and very friendly people, freedom, another life rhythm. In short, here you really relaxed, calm, and enjoy ... all the ingredients for a lovely holiday!
After the civil war in the former Portuguese colony has been shut down for a long time to peace. Around the world, unfortunately, you often hear of a typhoon and floods messages, but this only appears in January to March and rarely less than Vilanculos. Tourism is an important pillar for the economy and, therefore, welcoming foreigners received. However, it is outside the South African holiday periods.
For the rest Finder, but also for the adventurer, Mozambique is ideal. The country has a 2600 km of coastline. The seawater is a pleasant temperature throughout the year (water temperature April-October 26-29 degrees and in May-September 20-25 degrees). The beaches are sometimes snow white, sometimes yellow, almost always accompanied by a collar, Palm trees and the innumerable turquoise ocean color tints. Mozambique has, in addition to unspoiled beaches also paradise and an interesting underwater world.
Travelling in Mozambique is difficult, because of the poor condition of the road network; however travel preferably with a SUV. Also with a four-wheel drive car without this making country visits is difficult, but the possibilities are more limited. A quick way for you to move is with domestic flights with transfers to the accommodation, possibly from different connections. Ponta do Ouro lies in the far south of Mozambique, just across the border in Kosi Bay. The village is only reachable with a SUV-journey through the beautiful dune country. Once arrived Ponta do Ouro, seems to be little to South Africa, even though only a small 10 km from the South African border. It is a small village that, like the environment, is counteracted by sand roads. There is a local market, a wood oven bakery and a few restaurants. The dolphin trips are very good!
Geography
The most prominent feature of Mozambique Geography is its location in the Southern half of Africa just beside the Indian Ocean. Major area of the country is made of flat Coastal Plains but as one moves inland the topography changes and towards the Western and Northern borders of the country there is a marked dominance of high plateaus and mountains. Rivers in Mozambique occupy an important position in Mozambique Geography. There are a number of vibrant rivers that flow through the country, these include, the Zambezi and Limpopo. Climate in Mozambique varies from tropical to sub- tropical.
Money Matters Currency Information
The official currency is the New Metical (MZN), which is divided into 100 centavos. In the southern parts of the country, South African Rand, US Dollars and Pounds Sterling are also accepted to pay for accommodation. Credit cards are accepted in some upmarket hotels in Maputo, but facilities throughout the rest of the country are limited; it is advisable to carry cash or travellers cheques. ATMs are limited and tend to be unreliable, but local banks have branches in most cities.
